Latest from St Bernadette’s

Newsletter Term 4, Week 9 – 7th Dec 2018

It is hard to believe that we are here again at the end of the school year and preparing for Christmas with the season of Advent upon us. The recent graduation events for the Year Six students have highlighted the many achievements that have happened throughout the year and the wonderful learning that takes place at St Bernadette’s.

Next year there will be a small change to our start and end time s for our school day. Our fist bell will ring at 8.35 am, with our second bell in the morning sounding at 8.45 am and instruction time commencing at 8.50. Our afternoon bell and thus the end of the school day will be 3 pm.

Last week I wrote to you regarding the close of the school canteen. Please consider whether or not this may be a business opportunity for you and submit any expressions of interest to the school admin email account. Many thanks to Gillian Rudge and the other volunteers who worked for Grant after Kristy’s passing to keep our canteen going. I anticipate the canteen will re-open Term Two next year at the latest.

I would like to thank the many  parents who have taken the time to have a chat with me or send me a card or gift of thanks. It is truly humbling to be so warmly appreciated and your well wishes have made the difficult process of leaving St Bernadette’s that little bit easier. You have been an outstanding parent community and I have enjoyed working with you in partnership in educating your children.

I have also been blessed to have such wonderful  conversations with the children over the last few weeks. Their kind words and letters I will treasure and keep as a reminder of the special children and beautiful
families at St Bernadette’s.

Next week I will have my last week with the staff of St Bernadette’s. We will be planning for the coming year ahead and welcoming new staff into the school. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the fantastic, dedicated people at St Bernadette’s and know that our new Principal, Miss Maureen Barrett will be taking over a school staffed with wonderful people who have the best interests of the children in their hearts and minds.

So sadly this will be my last newsletter as Principal of St Bernadette’s. I leave the school knowing it is in a good place and ready for the future. I will always remember the times I have had here and look forward to hearing about the continual development and improvement of this already wonderful school community.
